Stewart moved to Little Rock in 1920 and worked in the oil business. He and his partner, Louis K. Hamilton, formed the Stewart-Hamilton Drilling Company in El Dorado, Arkansas where they bought, sold, and traded oil and gas leases. He was also engaged in business enterprises with W. S. Biles, a Memphis banker.
In late 1923, Stewart decided to get out of the oil business and moved to Fort Smith where he worked as a manager for the Home Building and Loan Association. He then moved to Texas but continued working as a manager for the association. Albert J. Stewart died on 1957 August 28 in Los Angeles, California."
