Ruth Evelyn Young was born November 20, 1930 in Fowler, Kansas to Jacob K. and Agnes (Schlichting) Cornelson. She entered her heavenly home on May 5, 2022 in Oklahoma City and was reunited with her loving husband, Ed Young, whom she desperately missed since his passing in 1996. Others who preceded her in death include her infant sister, Elizabeth "Betty" June who died when Ruth was five, and other family members and dear friends.

She was a homemaker and avid quilter. She was a member of the Oklahoma City Quilt Guild for 19 years. She made beautiful quilts for all her family, many friends, and contributed homemade quilts to the Quilt Guild for charitable purposes.

Ruth played the piano and organ for worship services at church for no less than fifty years of her life. She was prolific at building friendships but was always quiet and shy. "Still water runs deep."

Ruth married the love of her life, Ed Young, when they eloped to Dalhart, Texas on April 9, 1951. He preceded her in death of July 20, 1996. She is survived by daughter, Janice Issa and husband Tomy of Raliegh, North Carolina; son, Steven Young of Guthrie, OK; daughter, Linda Fountain and husband Andre of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Jacob Issa of Dallas, TX, Amanda Damon and husband Josh of rural Kansas, Clint Young and wife Jessica of Guthrie, OK, Haley Young, Faith Young, and Nathan Young, all of Guthrie, OK; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Joy, Chrissy, and Rose Damon, all of Kansas, and Cathlene and Aubrey-Lynn Young of Guthrie, OK. Ruth's greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and five great-granddaughters.

Viewing will be Friday, May 13, 2022 from 9am-8pm with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment to follow in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
