Anita Marie McTighe, 79, of Punta Gorda, Florida, left her earthly home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6th, 2022.
Anita and her beloved husband Skip were always seeking adventure and loved to travel. They lived all over the United States before settling in Florida in 2000. She enjoyed sailing on their 36' sailboat and was an excellent Helmsman. She once sailed to Bermuda from the Chesapeake Bay and caught a 36lb tuna on the way! They also sailed to Nantucket and back from the Chesapeake Bay. Anita rode horses and could be seen racing through the back yard on fox hunts. She took pride in raising Shelties and giving them the ultimate obedience training, collecting many trophies to show for her hard work.
Anita was a loving and adoring housewife dedicating her time and care to her boys. She also took care of the outside of her home, spending time tending to her rose garden and orchids. Anita was previously a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society. In addition to having a green thumb, she was very artistic. She taught a ceramic class in the basement of her home where she had a workshop complete with a kiln. Anita also found time for needlework and quilting, and took on the meticulous craft of making and painting porcelain dolls. She was extremely talented at everything she did. We can't leave out that she was a diehard Philadelphia Flyers fan!
Anita leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years, Skip McTighe; her sons Scott (April) of North Fort Myers, FL, Chris of Talkeetna, AK, and Patrick of Ephrata, PA; her grandchildren Christopher, Cassie, and Isabella; and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in passing by her parents Helen and George Perchment; and her sister Barbara Schweickhart.
A Funeral Service officiated by Father Vince Scotto will be held on Friday, May 13th 2022 at 10AM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with entombment to follow.
In Lieu of flowers, the family of Anita ask that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
