Brenda F. Cline, 74, of Wayne City, died at 12:51pm on Monday, May 9, 2022, at her home. She had been a homemaker.

Brenda was born on June 1, 1947, in Eldorado, IL, to James Lenard and Pansy (Lawyer) McGill. On November 11, 1977, she married Gary Cline.

Brenda loved to sing and play the piano and did for over forty years with her husband's gospel group, Gary Cline and the Starlighters. She and her husband, Gary, were instrumental in helping Lela Mae Thomason start the Wayne City Church of God and then, continued pastoring there for 26 years. Currently, they are pastoring at the Round Prairie General Baptist Church, in Berry Township, and co-pastoring at the Springerton Community Church.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Gary Cline, a daughter Jennifer Downen and Brad Downen, a son Michael (Courtney) Cline all of Wayne City, three grandchildren Phoenix Cline, Landon Downen, and Quorra Cline, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Virginia Beltz, Betty Head, and Genevieve York, and one brother Charlie McGill.

Funeral services for Brenda Cline will be at 2pm on Saturday, May 14th at the Wayne City Church of God with burial in Round Prairie Cemetery in Berry Township. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at the church. Memorial donations can be made the Cline family and will be accepted during the services at the church or at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
