Martha Manning Davis of Asheville, North Carolina, died Thursday, October 12, 2006. She was the wife of Reverend Willard Graham Davis.

She was born in Smyrna, Georgia on August 9, 1912 to J. Frank Manning and Adelaide Anderson Manning. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her brother William Anderson Manning and three sisters, Pauline M. Kent, Eugenia M. Allgood and Mary M. Mitchell.

Martha was an artist, writer and homemaker.

Her only desire was to serve her Lord and make a happy home for her family.

She graduated from Tifton High School, Tifton, Georgia and LaSalle University School of Design, in Chicago, Illinois.

She taught Sunday school and held many offices for the United Methodist Women.

She traveled the world with her husband and children making a home for them wherever her husband was stationed in the United States Air Force.

She has remarked that "one place they would have a hut and at another a hacienda" but each one was a challenge to make an attractive and comfortable home for her family.
