Carrie Louise Akers Moses, 99, of Princeton, died at the home of her daughter Elaine Simmons of natural causes, Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Born July 22, 1922, in Ashe County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Romey and Flora Mae Milam Killen. She was a faithful member and prayer warrior of Immanuel Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Harry Lee Akers, second husband Thomas E. Moses, step-daughter, Sue Smith and eleven siblings. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Simmons (Joe) of Princeton, Karen Kendall of Andover Kansas; Step-daughter, Glenna Carter of Toledo, Ohio; Five grandchildren, Joey Simmons (Missy) of Princeton, Chris Harshbarger (Martha) of Houston TX, Michael Simmons (Amber) of Richmond VA, Staci Harden (Cass) of Princeton and Dr. Jenni Harshbarger (Joe Smith) of Andover Kansas; Eight great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life; Two sisters, Jewel Dunn of Mountain City, TN, and Jean Sawyers of King, NC; Brother-in-law Wade Simmons of King NC; Three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bauguess of Myrtle Beach, SC, Edna Roberts and Alma Sizemore both of Princeton; Many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 13, 2021, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Dan Jividen officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those who are unable to attend the funeral can view her service thru webcasting on our website. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Appalachian Teen Challenge, 1651 Unity Road, Princeton, WV 24739. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com.
