She attended Convent of Mercy Catholic School at Garnethill in Glasgow and later worked as a pharmaceutical technician in Glasgow's West End during World War II.
It was in Glasgow that she met and married the late Elbert Robert Scott in 1957. Una and Elbert had three children, Elizabeth, Edward and Martin. After moving to the United States, they settled in Beaumont, Texas. Una was an active parishioner of the Catholic community at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont.
Her proudest accomplishment was her family: her daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Tom Welch, and granddaughters Elise, Jennifer and Kristen; her son, Edward and his wife Katya, and granddaughter Maya; her son Martin and his wife Rayni; and close relatives Eileen and Mike Tormey and Joe Barry.
