Actress. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of an automobile dealer. She graduated from the Goodman Art Theatre and subsequently participated in beauty pageants, finishing third in the 1950 Miss Chicago contest and second in the same contest the following year. She acted in regional theatre throughout Illinois, Missouri & Iowa during the 1950s, eventually acting in both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. She had her first film leading role opposite Randolph Scott in the Andre de Toth-helmed Warner Bros. western, "The Bounty Hunter" (1954). She also played the leading lady to Alan Ladd's character in "13 West Street" (1962). Along with film, she guest-starred on various TV shows like: "The Untouchables," "Ironside," "Charlie's Angels," "Run for Your Life," "Simon & Simon," etc. Acting sporadically by the late 1970s, Dorn became a teacher for the American Film Institute (AFI) before eventually teaching at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. She was married twice: to actors Franchot Tone (from 1956 to 1959) and Ben Piazza (from 1967 to 1979).
