Age 90, daughter of the late Percy and Mabel Cunningham Kerns. Helen was an amazing woman who was raised in the hills and many coal mining towns of West Virginia, before marrying Martin and raising three wonderful and obedient children. They moved to Wellsburg, WV in 1959, where she earned her bachelor's degree from West Liberty State College and her master's degree from West Virginia University. She taught in Brooke County, WVA, for 30 years before meeting Brig. General Ernest Ellis and starting her great adventure. Helen and Ernie traveled extensively and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her interests included bowling, dancing, cooking, three handed pinochle, watching Ernie play indoor horseshoes and talking about her favorite sons.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Brigadier General Ernest Ellis and Martin Bennett, her sisters Willa (Toot), Iva and Joy and her brothers, Clyde, Jackie, and Robert.

Surviving is her sister Anna Mary, sons Jack (Christine), Darrell (Carol) and David (Becky), six grandchildren; and eleven-great grandchildren. Helen is also survived by special friends Dee and Joe Gatta and her Fab 4 group.
