Elaine earned her Master of Music with Honors from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She is also a graduate of the University Of Evansville Department Of Music with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Honors. She was a scholarly editor, specializing in academic works and course literature of many varied subjects for universities and colleges across the nation. Her profession as an editor made her a fascinating conversationalist. She had a fantastic memory and was well-versed on several topics.

She enjoyed instrumental music, especially the works of Handel, and loved opera. A classically trained opera singer, she had a small career in opera, singing with a European touring company in the early '80s. One of her more prominent roles included playing the Gingerbread Witch in "Hansel and Gretel." Her mezzo-soprano singing voice could still be heard around the house from time to time. Now her beautiful voice is silent forever here on earth, but lives on among the memory of those who loved her. As a lifelong lover of animals, she cared for many dogs and cats over the years. Her four remaining cats miss her very much.

Elaine was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Jennifer Felker.
