John W. Valliant, age 84 years, a resident of Mt. Hermon, LA, died Monday morning, September 15, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired electrician with Hess Oil and Chemical Company in New Orleans, LA and a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church, Mt. Hermon, LA. He was also a member of St. Johns Lodge #153 and U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Survived by: wife, Gladys Smith Valliant of Mt. Hermon, LA; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Woody and Carol Valliant of Pensacola, FL, Perry and Madeline Valliant of Mandeville, LA; 1 daughter, Nedra Ann V. and Bobby Baker of Hamburg, AR; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 step-children and 3 step-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents: John W. and Cornelia Burch Valliant; and by his first wife, Alluewee Schillings Valliant. Visitation will be at CRAIN FUNERAL HOME, Franklinton, LA from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jon Nicholas and Rev. Joe Wiggins - officiating. Burial will follow in Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Cemetery.
