Jennings: A Mass of Christian burial for Alfred "Leroy" Fontenot, 63, of Jennings, LA will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline, LA on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM with Father Paul LaFleur & Father Rueben Villarreal officiating. Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery. Those chosen to honor him as his pallbearers will be Curtis Crochet, Michael Trahan, Dustin Oliver, Matthew Crochet, Mason Crochet, Mitch Richard, Edwin Smith, & Robert Bergeaux.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 2:30 PM until 8:00 PM with a Cursillo Rosary recited at 6:00 PM. The family request that visitation resume on Monday at 8:00 AM until the time of his funeral Mass.
Alfred "Leroy" Fontenot was born in Jennings, LA on July 14, 1958, to Ulysses Fontenot, Jr. and Rose LaCombe. He was called to his Heavenly Father on May 10, 2022. He worked as a self-employed carpenter; he was a very skilled & talented woodworker, he enjoyed making knives & working on his Trans Ams. Leroy loved being outdoors, hunting & fishing. He really enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends, playing blue grass music, playing his banjo, cooking, and listening to blue grass music. Leroy truly loved spending time with his family. He was a kind and loving person; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Leroy is survived by his beloved wife, of 40 years, Susan Reed Fontenot of Jennings, LA; his three daughters, Rachel Crochet (Curtis) of Gotte's Cove, LA, Amanda Trahan (Michael) of Egan, LA, Courtney Oliver (Dustin) of Egan, LA; his eight grandchildren, Matthew, Mason, Hannah, Emma, Abigayle, Madeline, Audrey, Alivia.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses & Rose Fontenot.
