Olen Richard Ayers, age 78 of Petersburg, WV passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the home of his daughter in Fisher, WV.
Richard was born on September 21, 1943 in Dorcas, WV and was a son of the late William Lester Ayers and Velma Frona (Mongold) Ayers. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Lee Ayers.
Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet (Mongold) Ayers; his daughter, Becky Marie Bell and fiancé James Stonestreet of Fisher, WV; one granddaughter, Carrie Marie (Jeffrey) Kimble of Petersburg, WV; one great grandson, Jayden Dewain Kimble; one step great grandson, Braedyn Cole Kimble; one sister, Sara Katherine Ketterman of Dorcas, WV; two brothers, William Martin "Pete" Ayers and wife Naomi of Dorcas, WV and William Lester Ayers, Jr. and wife Velma of Dorcas, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was a lifelong farmer and chicken grower for Pilgrims. He was a Christian by faith and loved the outdoors.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 6 – 8 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Funeral service will begin at 7 PM with Pastor Glenn Vance Jr. and Pastor Carolyn Sites officiating.
Graveside service will be Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11 AM in the Sites Cemetery on Elkhorn Road, Dorcas, WV.
