Painter, Musician and Flower-breeder. Born the eldest child of Ivo and Florence the 8th Earl and Countess of Darnley. He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Air Force. Esmé succeeded as the 9th Earl of Darnley upon the death of his father in 1927.
