Dorothy Jeanette Powers, age 88 of Long Valley, NJ passed away on Sunday May 15, 2022, while surrounded by her family. She was born on September 18, 1933, in Newark NJ. She was the daughter of the late Angelo Paione and Argie Balasso Paione. She has been living in Long Valley with her daughter Beverly for the past 12 years. She previously lived in Bridgewater, NJ.

Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. She is survived by her two sons, Richard Belliveau and Michael Belliveau and his husband Scott Wilder; her two daughters, Marilee Ackerman and Beverly Belliveau and her husband Jeffery King; her grandchildren, Michael, David, Jonathon and Jordan Belliveau, T.J., Brian, and Trevor Ackerman, and Patrick and Jillian Picciuto; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Elyana, and Jacob Belliveau and Beau and Elizabeth Ann Ackerman. She is also survived by her sister June Lagerson and her brother Eugene Paione. She is predeceased by her brother Ernest Paione and her sister Elizabeth (Liz) Cooper.

Dorothy was the rock of her family—she always loved unconditionally, picked her family up when they were down and made them stronger in their faith. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a gifted conversationalist. She was a devout Catholic, living her life as an example to others. She was a member of the Rosary Society and a Catechist. She was a life-long donor to many Catholic charities and organizations for the needy. She worked as a volunteer at local hospitals and nursing homes. Her heart led her to helping others and being present for her friends, family, and those in need.

Dorothy loved to play bridge, was a tournament bridge player, and was a director for duplicate bridge at Essex Bridge Center in Livingston, NJ. She played tennis in her younger years. She was an accomplished baker and shared the fruits of her baking with family, friends, nursing home residents, and her fellow bridge players. She loved to travel—she travelled domestically, internationally, and frequently to visit family. She also loved to watch golf.

Dorothy's Life Celebration Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday May 23, 2022 at St. Luke Parish, 265 West Mill Rd., Long Valley, NJ 07853. Burial of her ashes will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ.
