Florence (Duncan) Vold Hinderaker was born on October 20, 1922 near Alden, Iowa to Preston and Edith (Godfrey) Duncan. She graduated from Alden High School, later marrying Grant Vold on October 7, 1944 in Columbia, South Carolina. Grant passed away in 1999. Florence married Richard Hinderaker in 2003. Richard died in 2010.
Florence and Grant lived and farmed in the Radcliffe are for 18 years, then moving to Story City in 1969. Florence worked as a lab technician at the National Animal Disease lab in Ames for 16 years after the move to Story City until her retirement in 1984. Florence was a faithful member of the churches in Radcliffe and Story City where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Florence became a skilled and avid oil painter in her retirement years.
From her marriage to Grant Vold, Florence is survived by her son Stuart (Mary) Vold, five grandchildren Andy (Jennifer) Vold, Brian Vold, Emily (Ryan) Callahan, Jon (Jordan) Meyer and Jeremy Meyer. Also, seven great-grandchildren, Brayden Vold, Cannen Vold, Landry Callahan, Livvi Callahan, Lincoln Meyer, Hattie Lee Meyer, and Walter Meyer. Florence has one surviving sibling Marlyn (Kathy) Duncan of Vinton, Iowa
From her marriage to Richard Hinderaker, he had three adult children, Randy (Carol) Hinderaker, David (Linda) Hinderaker, Karen (Brad) Engelson and several grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Grant and Richard, son Douglas Vold, brothers Howard (Vera) Duncan, John Duncan, sisters Alice (Bob) Carpenter and Iowa (Joel) Grubb.
