On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Carmen Abad, loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away at the young age of 79 from pancreatic cancer.
Carmen was born January 18, 1943 in Elsa, Texas to Abdon and Nicolasa Rodriguez. She was the oldest of 10 children. They were a big family, but a very close family. Carmen married Jesse Abad in February of 1964. They raised their children, Lillian and Xavier, in Cypress, Texas. Carmen was loved by so many and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She never wanted to miss a party! She was also a huge sports fan, rooting for the Texans and loving the Astros. Carmen was one of the strongest yet kindest people you would have ever met. It was a true blessing that her family and friends were able to spend quality time with her at the end of her life. She will forever be in our hearts.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Abad, father, Abdon Rodriguez and mother, Nicolasa Rodriguez, and sister-in-law's Felipa Rodriguez and Guadalupe Rodriguez. She is survived by her children, Lillian Gloeckl and husband Paul, Xavier Abad and wife Johanna, grandchildren Shawna Turner, Cole Turner, Luke Abad and Emily Abad, great-grandchildren Brooke Maier and Michael Maier, brothers Victor Rodriguez and his wife Adela, Joe Rodriguez, David Rodriguez and his wife Irene, Oscar Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez, and Harvey Rodriguez, sisters Josie Gonzalez and husband Ramiro, and Elisa and Joe Martinez, along with numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
