Daughter of Anton Louis and Margaret Propp Witte. Wife of Leo Miller whom she married in October of 1940. She grew up in the Melbourne community where she graduated from Melbourne High School.

Violet was killed in an automobile accident just east of Tama in an automobile and truck collision. The car in which she and her husband were riding struck the back of a semi-trailer truck and was demolished. Violet suffered head and shoulder injuries. Ralph Reed, Tama County deputy sheriff said Miller's car jammed under the rear of the truck and was dragged more than 1,500 feet. Reed quoted the truck driver as saying he felt a jar and heard a bang and thought he had blown a tire. He got out to investigate and found the car jammed under the truck body.
