Bernelda "Bernie" L. Schoel, 86, of Grand Island passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022.


To honor Bernie's wishes cremation was chosen.


Ercel and Bernie Schoel will be remembered in a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 6, 2024 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate.


Family will be greeting friends an hour before service time. Military honors will be rendered for Ercel by the U.S. Army and United Veterans Honor Guard.


Burial of ashes will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.


Bernie was born on November 28, 1935 on the family farm near Worms, daughter of Richard and Ida (Kruse) Poehler.

She was raised in Grand Island where she attended school.


On Jun 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Henry Ercel Schoel.


They made their home in Grand Island, Conifer, Colorado, Grove, Oklahoma for many years before returning to Grand Island.


Bernie was employed for many years as a cashier for Conoco and Bosselmans.

Bernie made their house a home.


She enjoyed traveling with family and dancing.


She valued God and her family.


Bernie was survived by her husband, Henry Ercel Schoel of Grand Island; children, Wesley (Karen) Schoel of Jacksonville, FL and Janet (Larry) Lutkemier of Hebron, NE; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Verona Burrow of Grove, OK.


She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Schoel; brother, Victor Poehler; sisters, Stella Geiser and Edna Hines.
