Her obituary ran in the Page Courier (Luray, Virginia) on 15 December 1904: "Miss Laura Pritchard, sister of Mr. R. L. Pritchard of this place, died at the home of her brother-in-law Mr. W. J. Cary in Riverton ... on December 9th, aged 49 years. Immediate cause was pneumonia. She was a member of the Regular Baptist Church ... She was buried at the old family burial ground at Delaplane, Va.
Miss Pritchard had frequently visited Luray, and had many friends who deeply lament her death. Her funeral was attended by her brother of this place. This is the fifth sister Mr. Pritchard has lost by death within less than four years."
