Alan Clifton Owens, 84 of Woodbine, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Northwest Hospital Center.
He was the husband of the late Mary Loretta Spicer Owens.
He was born May 5, 1920, in Annapolis Junction and spent most of his early life in Elkridge and moved to Woodbine after serving in the Navy during WWII.
He was the son of the late Robert and Annie Patterson Owens.
Mr. Owens was a member of Westminster VFW Post 467 and American Legion Gold Star Post 191, Mt. Airy.
Mr. Owens enjoyed raising beef cows and growing tomato plants and loved life.
He had a warm and loving personality and gathered many friends along the way and was well respected by his neighbors and all that knew him.
Surviving are his son Bill Owens of Woodbine, son and daughter in-law Jeff and Carol Owens of Effort, Pa., daughter and son-in-law Susan and Steven Leatherwood of Woodbine, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Michael Wright of Sykesville, brothers Richard Owens of Florida and Phillip Owens of Elkridge, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Robert and Norris Owens and sister Margaret Gaither.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 9 a.m. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield. Interment is in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.
