Shirley Mae (Dryer) Tuecke was born on August 25, 1949, to Birdie William and Marjorie June (Knospe) Dryer in Strawberry Point, IA. The Lord called her home on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 after a sudden illness. Shirley attended several local schools and graduated from Guttenberg High School. She was united in marriage on July 22, 1967 to her high school sweetheart, Everd James Tuecke, Jr. After accompanying her husband for four years of military service, they made their home on the Tuecke family farm six miles west of Guttenberg. Born into this union were two children, Chadd and Barbara. Over the years, she worked at the Guttenberg Hospital and has spent the last 19 years working at the Guttenberg Care Center where she always had a smile and caring words for residents, staff and visitors. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, scrap booking, cooking, and making special treats for her step grandsons. Surviving include her husband of 40 years: one son, Chadd Tuecke, Guttenberg: one daughter, Barbara (Mark) Bolsinger and two step-grandsons Brandon and Blake, Strawberry Point, IA: two brothers, James (Linda) Dryer and Dennis (Kathy) Phelan all of Guttenberg, IA: two sisters, Susan (Dennis) Horstman of Guttenberg, IA and Betty Harbaugh of Manchester, IA and many other relatives and friend She was preceded in death by her parents.
