VIRGINIA BEACH -- Chester Delbert McClain, Jr., 53, of the 1400 block of Kara Court, died Oct. 6, 1999, in Virginia Beach.
Mr. McClain was born in San Diego, Calif. He was employed by the City of Chesapeake with 10 years of service as zoning administrator and also as zoning inspector with the city of Virginia Beach for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Winifred Grace McClain.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, a son, his father, Chester D. McClain Sr. of Lincoln, Ill.; two sisters, Marilyn Jane Schrieder of Long Lake, Ill., and Marie Kathleen Thompson of McHenry, Ill.; and a brother, John L. McClain of Omaha, Neb.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. today at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, by the Rev. Rick Hocker. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local S.P.C.A. or to PETA.
