He was born in Amherst, O. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Wilmerding; a charter member of the Wilmerding Lions and a member of the Knights of Pythias of Wilmerding. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Harriet Battenhouse and leaves a son, John M., Jr.; two sister, Mrs. Will Sudor and Mrs. Lizzie Nichols, of Elyria, O.; and two grandchildren.
