Mr. Brooks was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Sugar Grove, Va., to Myrtle Lee Brooks of Orange City, Fla., and the late Ray R. Brooks. He was raised in North Beach and attended Beach Elementary and Calvert High School.
He worked as a construction superintendent for Edward R. Carr Construction Co. of Virginia for over forty years, retiring in 2000.
He was a former member of the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Ray Brooks; one brother, David F. Brooks; and one sister, Mary Darlene Brooks.
Survivors include two sons, William M. "Ricky" Brooks Jr. of Orange City and Donald M. "Pedroe" Brooks of Chesapeake Beach; four daughters, Denise Lynn and Gail M. Brooks of Accokeek, Kathy S. Jarvis of Middleburg, Fla., and Brenda Lee Brooks of Huntingtown; one sister, Lockie Sue Gott of Owings; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
