On January 10, 2021, Anna Jean "AJ" Lunde, age 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family at her home in Littleton, NC after an 8 year battle with multivascular dementia.

Anna Jean was born on January 25, 1934 in Richwood, WV and was the youngest of 4 children of Eugene and Anna Vogel Daetwyler. Anna Jean grew up in Marlinton, WV enjoying all the wonders of beautiful West Virginia. She attended Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, WV for 2 years where she met the love of her life, Norman A Lunde from New Jersey.

During summers while in college and after attending college, Anna Jean worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Anna Jean and Norman were married in January 1954. Norman was drafted into the Army in the spring of 1954 and after completing basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey they moved to Anniston, AL. After Norman completed 2 years of active duty in the service, they settled in New Jersey where Anna Jean became the best mother and homemaker anyone could ever have.

During the busy years of raising 4 children, Mom became the executive secretary at Camp Arrowhead YMCA in Marlboro, NJ where she worked for 17 years. Her years at Camp Arrowhead became a family affair in that her children were able to participate in summer camps and winter ski activities and eventually seasonal work there. The experience of working there had a lasting impact on each family member. Upon retirement Anna Jean and Norman built a home on Lake Gaston in Littleton, NC and moved there in 1990. There they greatly enjoyed time with family and friends. Anna Jean joined a quilting club and made beautiful quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, and some of her great grandchildren. Up until she had a stroke in late 2012, she was an active member of the Lake Gaston Ladies Club. Anna Jean and Norman were members of the United Methodist Church in Littleton, NC before attending the Enterprises Baptist Church in Littleton for the past decade. Anna Jean was the prayer warrior of the family and her faith, prayers and love guided each of her children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!

Her children described Anna Jean as the sweetest person and the best mother anyone could ever have. She had a true servants' heart and was always looking for ways to help those in need. She will be greatly missed! But with the promise of a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3-9), we will meet again!!

Anna Jean is predeceased by her parents, and her 3 brothers: Vernon, Harold, and Bernard.

Surviving is her husband of 67 years, Norman Lunde, four children, Carl Lunde (wife Trang), Vicki Lunde Rodriguez (husband Noel), Erik Lunde, Kris Lunde (wife Karen), eleven grandchildren: Michael, Joshua, Daniel, Eden, Kyler, Kristopher, Iriane, David, Kamryn, Jacob, and Kaleb, 9 great-grandchildren: Asher, Joshua, Eli, Ryan, Levi, Ezra, Miles, Selah, and Cora. The Lunde family is spread across 8 states and one foreign country.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Davis & Elkins College, where Anna Jean and Norman met. Checks payable to Davis & Elkins College may be mailed to:
Office of Institutional Advancement Davis & Elkins College, 100 Campus Drive, Elkins, WV 26241.
