Departed this life November 26, 2007, Deacon Betty Dodson Coleman, formerly of Richmond.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Bridgette Dodson; her parents, William A. and Beulah D. Sallie; and her brother, William A. Sallie Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Willie E. Coleman; one granddaughter, Tanisha Dodson; one great granddaughter, Jatiana Chambers; two sisters, Ann King and Barbara Edwards; four step-sons, Darrell, Craig, Randy and Roy Coleman; three aunts, Irene Gordon, Leola Wood and Henrietta Weddington; eight nieces and nephews, among them a beloved Bernard L. Dodson Sr.; a host of cousins; two brothers-in-law, Wiley King Sr. and Johnnie Edwards Jr.; and other relatives and friends, among them Barbara Hockaday, Gloria Chandler and Lillian Atkins.

Remains rested at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services were held on Saturday at 11am, at Grayland Baptist Church, 2301 Third Avenue, where remains laid in state one hour prior funeral time. Dr. Clifton Whitaker Jr. (pastor) officiated. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assembled at the church at 10:45am on Saturday.
