She also worked as a secretary at Pet Milk Company.

Mrs. Allen was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church from 1971 until she was no longer able to attend services due to caring for her husband of 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, E.H. Johnson, Lawton Johnson, Pat Johnson, Eldora Dimmen, Walter Johnson and Frankie Jim Newmans ; Stepdaughter, Sandra Allen Campbell; Grandchild, Joseph Nathan Allen; and Great-grandson, Bentlee Nunez.

She is survived by her children, Joe Allen (Diane) of Macon; daughter, Paula Allen of Byron; Step son, Jimmy Allen (Pat)of Macon. While she spent the last 10 years confined to a hospital bed, she would spend her days worshiping the Lord by listening to SBN/Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. She spent a number of years under the care of Kindred Hospice. She formed a great friendship with her primary tech, Mrs. Judy Williams. Not only was Mrs. Judy's care above and beyond, but she would also sing and dance in an effort to bring a smile to Betty's face. She formed a very special relationship with one of her nieces, Kenetha NeSmith, who visited her frequently and formed a very special bond with her. She will be sorely missed by those that call her 'Momma', 'Grandma', and 'Aunt Betty.'
