Services for A.M. Bird, 76, pioneer Haskell County farmer and former school official were held at the First Baptist church officiated by Rev. Odis Carruth, assosicate pastor and Jim Pennington, minister of the Church of Christ and Rev. H.G. Hammer, retired Baptist minister.

A.M. Bird moved to Haskell County in 1906 from Ellis County. He farmed seven miles southwest of Haskell.

A.M. Bird married Ethel Bland on 18 October 1908 at Haskell, Texas.

A member of the First Baptist Church, he served many years as trustee on the school board at Sayles School.

Survived by his wife; one daughter - Mrs. Avis Pennington; two sons - Alvis and Thurman Bird; three brothers - Claude, Willie and Lenard Bird; one sister - Mrs. Maude Bennett; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
