Allan Frederic Lindner passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2022, at the age of 82, in Vallejo, CA. Born on January 19, 1940, in El Dorado, AR, and raised in Hampton, IA, he was an avid baseball player in his youth. A U.S. Navy and Vietnam War veteran, Allan ascended to the rank of Master Chief as an Electronics Technician and received numerous medals during his 26-years of service. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as an Electronics Engineering Technologist at U.C. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Allan's interests included calculus, celestial navigation, architectural engineering, shipbuilding, world history, telegraphy, amateur radio, historical weaponry, and playing Mr. Fix-It.
After the passing of his beloved wife, Flora, in 2016, Allan was lovingly cared for by Flora's family in the Philippines, where he lived most of his last years. Ultimately, Allan longed to come home, and when pandemic-related travel restrictions eased, his U.S. and Philippines families arranged for Allan's return to California. Allan is remembered as a genuine, kind, and humble person who loved telling jokes and passed down a love of learning to his children and grandchildren.
An active member of the Lutheran church, he enjoyed Bible study and always trusted in the Lord's plan.
Allan is reunited with his beloved wife, Flora; parents, Arthur and Ruth Lindner; and brothers, Ronald and Daniel Lindner. He is survived by son, Robert Lindner; daughter, Ruth Dillon (Chris); daughter, Rosalinda Petrisko (Bryan); grandchildren, Grace, Lauren, and Nikolas; brother, Thomas Lindner (Maggie); and many cherished family members in the Philippines.
A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 7, at 10 a.m., followed by an interment at All Souls Cemetery in Vallejo. In remembrance of Allan's life, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
