Peter Willard Cary Dethlefsen, 74, of Fairview Heights, IL, born October 3, 1947, in Spencer, IA, died Monday, May 23, 2022, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Peter was a member of Greenmount Road Church of Christ, Belleville, IL, and enjoyed leading bible studies at the church and at Auffenberg Ford. He loved cooking, going out to eat, and gardening. Peter's tomatoes were the best. Mr. Dethlefsen was a United States Army veteran and served with the 18th Combat Engineer Brigade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Norma, nee Hagedorn, Dethlefsen; two sisters, Carmen Bang and Karen Malcom; and a brother, Merlyn Dethlefsen.

Surviving are two sisters, Mariette (Bill) Allen and Norma Jean Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Greenmount Road Church of Christ, Belleville, IL, with Greg Malcom and Chad Stafko officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
