JERUSALEM TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Two pick-up trucks collided around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday resulting in the deaths of two men and an 8-year-old boy in Jerusalem Township, east of Toledo, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports. Police say alchohol may have been a factor in the accident.

Albert Michalak III, 52, of Curtice, was driving westbound on SR-2 in his pickup truck when he went left of center and struck a red pickup driven by Arturo Lopez, 29, of Oregon, police say. It was a head-on collision. Michalak was pronounced dead at the scene. Lopez was taken to University of Toledo Medical Center; we do not know his condition. No seatbelts were in use at the time, police say.

Franklin Gander, 42, of Curtice, a passenger in Michalak's truck, was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Toledo. We do not know his condition. Gander was not wearing a seatbelt, police say.

Armando Cantu, Jr., 35, of Curtice was a passenger in Lopez's vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Arturo Lopez, Jr., 8, of Oregon, also a passenger in Lopez's vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. No seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash.

The trucks hit in front of Phantom Fireworks. Both roads were closed for a few hours in both directions while the accident scene was investigated. Police say they believe Michalak had been drinking and that, therefore, alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
