Shirley Johnson was born in Columbus, Texas on December 9, 1936 as the fifth of six children. Shirley 76, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2013 at 11:42 am with family surrounding her with love. She was a resident of Las Vegas for approximately 19 years. In her youth however she relocated from Texas to New Mexico later migrating to California with her eight children. Shirley worked several odd jobs to support her family during those times and that support continued throughout her life.

She was a beautiful personification of what God's love is. She was unselfish and kind to a fault, yet resilient and strong willed beyond measure. Never will there be another woman quite as amazing as she , yet there is a piece of her that will live on through everyone that she encountered. If there was one word that even came close to capturing her essence it would be Pearly. Shirley was as priceless and rare and as revered as that precious pearl and will always be remembered as such.

She spread her love to her children: Louis Hill, Edna Williams, Margaret Oliver, Harvey Hill, Carla Hill, Charlene Whiting, Rickie Hill, Russell Jones Jr., and grandchildren that will continue her legacy and gladly accept the torch that was passed and run the race she ran all her life. The race to becoming an amazing person that shows God's love and generosity through their actions. There is a saying that there is no earthly sorrow that heaven can't heal and we can have peace knowing that she is in a new glorified body whose spirit will never leave us
