Byron W. Ayers, whose serious illness was noted in a late issue of the Register, died at half past seven o'clock Sunday evening, of consumption. Mr. Ayers was born in the state of Ohio, on the 19th of August, 1841, and was therefore nearly forty one years of age at the time of his death. He came to this city when a child, grew up to manhood here and here married and reared a family. For three years he served the people of the third Ward in the city council, and was one of the most active members of that body. He leaves a wife and five children, to whom he was a kind husband and indulgent father, and these have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. The funeral services will be held at the Central Baptist church, at two o'clock this afternoon, after which the remains will be taken in charge by the Masonic fraternity and buried with the honors of that order. IL State Register, Springfield, IL 3-21-1882
