Resided in Buncombe County, North Carolina and enlisted in Company C (Bold Mountain Tigers), 29th North Carolina Infantry at the age of 22 on August 6, 1861. Captured at Nashville, Tennessee on December 15, 1864. Confined at Louisville, Kentucky on December 19, 1864. Transferred to Camp Douglas yankee prison, Chicago, Illinois where he arrived on December 22, 1864. Died at Camp Douglas on May 9, 1865 of pneumonia.
∼Twin brother to James.
