It is with a heavy heart that the Tiverton Fire Department announces the passing of Captain Joe Plocica (Ret.). Capt. Plocica died unexpectedly surrounded by his family and friends. This is a difficult time for Capt. Plocica's family as well as the fire department. As arrangements are finalized, the information will be passed along. Thank you to everyone who has reached out offering condolences.

Today Tiverton FD and the RI Fire/EMS community lost Capt Joseph Plocica (Ret.). (Natural causes)

TIVERTON, RI… Joseph "Joe" T. Plocica, age 58, passed away unexpectedly at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA on Monday, June 13, 2022. Joe was the beloved husband of Gina (Sevigny) Plocica.

Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Andrew J. and Carlene (White) Plocica and lived most of his life in Tiverton.

Joe committed his life to public service. He worked both as a firefighter for the town of Tiverton as well as a paramedic for St. Anne's Hospital. He enjoyed working with his hands, building things and working in his yard as well as painting. Joe loved animals. He was also known for his cooking.

In addition to his loving wife, Joe is survived by: son, Andrew Plocica of Tiverton, RI; daughters, Erin Loughlin and husband Andrew of Tiverton, RI, Krystal Denault and husband Cory of Bellingham, MA and Kortney Sevigny and fiancé Brian Oliveira of Westport, MA; brother, James Plocica and partner Josh of Dedham, MA; sisters, Jean Bua and husband Joseph of Franklin, MA and Susan Duva and husband Anthony of North Attleboro, MA; grandchildren, Andrew and Luke; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10 AM at Boyko Memorial Funeral Home located at 709 Broadway, Fall River, MA 02724. Visitation will take place Friday, June 17, 2022 from 4 – 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to One Dog at a Time Rescue 16 Roseland Terrace Tiverton, RI 02787. Donations may be made vie PayPal.me/ODAATRescueRI, Venmo at @ODAATRescueRI and [waiting for return call for a physical address for donations]
