Edgar Porter Harned, 88, of Louisville, born November 27, 1919, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008. He was the son of Virgil Hewitt Harned and Ruby Lee Porter. He was the founder of the Orphan Brigade Kinfolk, founder of the Boston Kentucky Cemetery Association, an agent & former manager of AXA/Equitable for over 50 years, a World War II Army Veteran serving in Japan and the Philippines and past president of the Frankfort Jaycees. He had a bachelor of science degree from Eastern Kentucky University, a charted life underwriter (CLU) form the American college, a member and usher at Southeast Christian Church, an internationally published poet, former captain of the Boston High school basketball team, he was a genealogist and a member of the Public Archives, Son's of the American Revolution and Sons of the Confederate Veterans.

He is survived by his wife; Mary Emily Richards Harned, children; Philip Harned and Ellen Harned Minturn and son-in-law, Joe Minturn; grandchildren, Natasha Harned Minturn and Michael Samuel Minturn; a sister, Mary Hart Harned Versaw; and brother-in-law, Les Versaw.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. on Sunday at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, with visitation at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Boston Christian Church Cemetery in Boston, KY.
