Gena Louise Lewis was born May 2, 1968, and was soon adopted by Bobbie and Reeta B. (Wills) Rumfelt. She graduated from Independence High School in 1986 and received her degree in cosmetology from Independence Community College. She married Tommy Lawrence and later divorced. Gena was a free spirit and loved horses and her german shepherds.
