James C. DeFinnis, 73, of Berwick passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born July 3, 1948, in Danville, a son of the late Daniel and Dorothy (Humphries) DeFinnis.

James "Jim" was a lifetime Berwick resident and as a youth, James participated in Boy Scouts and earned the highest rank, becoming an Eagle Scout.

He graduated from Berwick High School and joined the 814th Infantry Reserve out of Bloomsburg. He then worked four years at the family-owned business, Dan's Tailor Shop, before he started his lifelong career as a stonemason, working until he retired from Bill Anski's Co. in Elysburg. Jim was a proud member of the BAC Local 5 PA for his entire career.

James was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Berwick, and enjoyed attending services with his family.

Jim was always known to be a hard worker for his family; he worked tirelessly and never let anyone go without. His greatest joy was his time spent at home with his family. "Grandpop" enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. Jim loved searching for and collecting Native American artifacts as well as refinishing antique furniture.

James was preceded in death by his parents, as well as brother Daniel DeFinnis.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1600 Fowler Ave., Berwick, with his pastor, the Rev. Christine Kirchner, officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick, and Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
