Died, April 22, at her residence in this city, Mrs. Ann Connelly, aged 85 years. Mrs. Connelly was born at Georgetown, D. C., in 1798, and was married to John Connelly July 17, 1817, and with her husband moved to this city in 1837.
Mrs. Connelly witnessed the growth of Springfield from a mere frontier hamlet to the busy bustling city of the present. She was a most estimable lady, loved and respected by all who knew her. Her mind was well stored with the stories of old times, which the younger people loved to hear. She was the mother of 11 children - 5 sons and 6 daughters. Of these only 4 are living, the others have preceded her to the other shore.
Her surviving children are Mrs. Martha Jester, of Marysville, Ky.; Mrs. Ann Taylor, of Decatur, Ill.; Mrs. Richard Corson and Miss Sarah Connelly, of this city. Her grandchildren, George S. and Will A. Connelly, are well-known citizens of this city.
Mrs. Connelly will be sadly missed by the friends and children who have lovingly ministered to her wants during the declining years of life, but their loss is her gain. She has fought the fight, borne well the toils and burdens of the day, and now finds that sweet rest beyond the grave appointed to the children of God.
The funeral will be held from her late residence today. Friends of the family are invited to attend.
