Shirley Darlene Sentelle, age 70, passed from life to eternal life Friday, June 17, 2022 at her home after heroically battling stage four metastic breast cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard Sentelle and her parents, Marlene Ayers and James Gentry, grandparents Keel and Eliza Jane Bible, Cephas and Loduska Gentry, mother and father in law Gordon and Louise Sentelle, sister and brother in law Chris and Robert Lloyd Smelcer and brother in law Rusty Sentelle.

She was born in Greeneville, TN November 13, 1951 and lived in the Warrensburg community until she married the love of her life at age 17 in 1969.

She worked as a bank teller from 1982-1985 at Hamilton National Bank and later at Hamblen County Bank. Then she worked for 26 years as a substitute teacher in Hamblen county schools.

She loved music and enjoyed playing piano and singing. She was pianist for Kiwanis and Christian Women's Club, and several church choirs. She sang with the church choir and group ensemble, Shekinah.

For fun she loved to bowl and was on several leagues through the years. She kept a diary every day since the age of 13..

She was a lifelong follower of Jesus and lived a life of service and friendship.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Sentelle-Hoyle (Scott), grandsons Noah and Elijah, brother Lewis Gentry (Donna), nephew Beau Gentry; niece Ellen Partin and nephew, Erik Partin (Chelsea and Lane) as well as dear aunts, cousins and many dear friends.

The family would like to thank Smoky Mountain Hospice for their care and nurse Denise Kitzmiller who lovingly cared for her as live-in nurse, as well as all friends and family who provided prayers, food and love.

Her and Richard were members at Manley Baptist Church for 40+ years.

The family will have a private viewing Sunday, June 19, at Mayes Mortuary in Morristown. Those who wish may come and sign the register. She will lie in state Sunday afternoon from 2pm til 5pm. A graveside will be held Monday morning, June 20 at 11:00am at Bethesda cemetery with Rev. Alan Duncan presiding.

In lieu of flowers, we request donations in memory of Darlene Sentelle be given to the building fund of Manley Baptist Church.
