He worked as a farmer and he would travel from Clay City to Homer, Illinois riding a horse and leading one to pick corn in the fall.
Later he worked as a section hand for the B&O railroad and as a crossing watchman in Clay City from which he retired. He loved marching band music and would listen to WLS in Chicago. He never cursed, smoked nor drank any alcoholic beverages. He was an loving grandfather. DRT
