Donald Lee Gochnour, 87 years of age of Nelson Twp.-Garrettsville, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at UH-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. Born on January 26, 1935 in Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William and Mae (Corle) Gochnour.

Formerly of Brook Park, he had resided in the Garrettsville area since 1988. Don had been employed at Ford Motor Company, Walton Hills, as a millwright leader, and supervisor, retiring in 2000, after 28 years of service. He had served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Windham American Legion Post No. 674, where he enjoyed being Santa Clause for the legion members and their families. He was a member of Acadia Masonic Lodge F. & A. M. in Cleveland, a lifetime member of NRA and had been a scout master in Cleveland. Don enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, and will long be remembered for his unique sense of humor, and his singing abilities.

Survivors include his children Ronald S. (Tracy) Gochnour of Nelson Twp., David A. Gochnour of Gilbert, Arizona, Danette (Chuck) Proffitt of Brook Park, Ohio, Jennifer (Carl) Wagner of Norton, Ohio; his sister Mildred McCombs of Denton, Texas; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. His daughter Lisa Gochnour preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio, 44255, 12:00 Noon, where visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Final resting place will follow at Harrington Cemetery, Nelson Twp., where full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, assisted by members of Windham American Legion Post #674, and Mantua American Legion Post #193.
