Valentine Alfred "Buddy" Gleich III, age 75, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 16, 2022. Born on December 26, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Valentine Gleich Jr. and Marietta (Carver) Kunzi. Buddy proudly served in the U.S Navy and went on to earn his GED later in his life. Earning his GED was a honored moment for him and greatly celebrated by his loved ones.

Buddy enjoyed riding and tinkering with his Harley, oldies music, dancing, watching western movies, fishing, doodling, but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was talented at fixing and building many things, whether a kid's bike, an old mower, or a handcrafted doll house he built for his daughter. He was a great friend to many and could sit and talk for hours. He had a lot of fond memories and loved to reminisce. Buddy delighted in cracking jokes and making others laugh. His laughter and the teasing glint that was often present is his eyes will be greatly missed. To Buddy, his kids always came first. Throughout their lives he made sure they knew, and would often remind them, "If you ever need anything, call Dad". He supported his kids in their many interests growing up and into adulthood. He was the kind of dad that took time to teach his daughter to dance in her socks on the linoleum kitchen floor. The kind of dad who was always willing to pick his kids up if they called late at night needing a ride, no questions asked. Whatever they needed, he was there. He frequently would pass along life lessons to his kids in the form of phrases, "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime". Those same phrases are now being used to teach his grandchildren life lessons and undoubtedly will be used for many generations to come. He loved his children unconditionally and would habitually end his declarations of love to them with, "no matter what". Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; younger sister, Darlene Schmitt; and beloved niece, Jessica Devore. Buddy is survived by his children Valentine "Mick" (Jessica) Gleich IV, Kevin (Lisa) Gleich, and Katrina (Paul) Young; 14 grandchildren, 4 brothers, 7 sisters, many nieces and nephews, and special friend Becky Armstrong.

Interment at Sunset Cemetery.
