A daughter of Benjamin M. and Philomela (Patch) Baker. Phymelia married Holland W. Dawson, a son of Martin and Lydia (Tambling) Dawson on June 3, 1871 at Wallingford, Vermont.

HER DESCENDANCY

Phymelia descends from immigrant Francis Baker who came to Colonial America in 1635:((Benjamin, Stephen III, Stephen II, Stephen I, Abraham, Daniel, Francis, Thomas).

IMMIGRANT FRANCIS BAKER

Francis Baker, known in records as Francis Baker of Boston, was born in England in 1611 and was by trade a tailor at St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. He came from that place to America on the ship "Planter," arriving at Boston, where he settled in 1635. He removed to Yarmouth, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts where he married Isabell Twining in 1641. At Yarmouth his trade was that of a "cooper" (a maker of wooden barrels and flasks).

His brother Alexander also came to America and became a resident of Boston, Massachusetts. Alexander, by occupation was a rope maker, who also came in 1635 but aboard the ship "Elizabeth and Ann" with his wife Elizabeth Farrer. Alexander died at Boston May 11, 1685.
