Russ was raised in Greensboro, NC, son of Dr. Raymond Teague and Lorena Holden Copeland. He was a graduate of Page High School, Greensboro, NC, class of 1974 and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL, class of 1984.
Russ was a lifelong member at College Place United Methodist church in Greensboro, NC. His mother lovingly remembers him playing his guitar as an active member of the youth congregation. Russ spent his life in the skies working as a Delta pilot for 27 years. He loved to fish. The highlight of his year was always spending time at the beach and casting out a rod. His family enjoyed and will very much miss the jokes when he did not catch anything. He and his family found joy in the simple moments of life together.

The family requests donations be made in Russell's name to the Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association.
