Obit: Mrs. Mabel Beets Winfrey, 92, of 611 S. Fuller, Independence, died Thursday at the Independence Sanitarium. She was born in Atherton, Mo., and had lived in this area most of her life except for several years when she lived in Stella, Neb. During World War II she was a supervisor in the map department of the Army Corps of Engineers. Mrs. Winfrey was a Methodist. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Ila Beets Burrus, 720 Proctor Place, Independence, and a brother, Chadwick H. Beets, Lake Lotawana. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ott and Mitchell Chapel; burial in Six Mile Church Cemetery.
