Edna (Scalf) McDonald, age 79, of Artemus, died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Tip Wesley and Dora (Jordan) Scalf, born to them on October 20, 1930 at Artemus.

Mrs. McDonald was a retired Dietitian of over 30 years at the Knox County Hospital; and a member of the First Baptist Church of Artemus for over 67 years, and a member of the WMU; and the Kentucky Home Makers.

On October 8, 1948, she united in marriage to Franklin M. "Frank" McDonald, and to this union two sons: James Wesley "Jimmy" McDonald and Glenn Ray McDonald were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Tip Wesley and Dora (Jordan) Scalf; Her husband, Franklin M. "Frank" McDonald; her son, James Wesley "Jimmy" McDonald; her great grandson, Michael Taylor McDonald; her brother, Robert Melton Scalf; and by a sister, Dora Beulah (Scalf) O'Grady.

Mrs. McDonald is survived by her loving family: her son: Glenn Ray McDonald and wife, Shirley of Barbourville. Her grandchildren: Kevin Lee McDonald and wife, Heather of Knoxville, Tennessee; Kimberly Dawn (McDonald) Carter and husband, Jeffrey of Corbin; and Bro. James Edward McDonald and wife, Virginia of Artemus. Her special granddaughter-in-law: Alyson McDonald of Independence, Kentucky. Her great grandchildren: Alexandra McDonald, Addie Elizabeth McDonald, Nathanael Smith, Cailin Elise McDonald, Zachariah Carter, Gwendolyn Carter and Aeris McDonald. Her sisters: Vivian Ore Cole of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mary Lawson Gambrel of Barbourville; and Elsie Campbell of Louisville, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews, her special loving care givers: Pam Lockwood and Tri County Hospice.

Funeral Services for Edna (Scalf) McDonald will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Patterson and her grandson Bro. James Edward McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Corum Cemetery at Artemus. Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Lee Murphy, Jerry Boles, Bryon Ramsey, Justin Williams, David Williams, Kevin Elliott, and Ron Bowling. Honorary Pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church of Artemus.

Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
