Jacqueline 'Jacque' Sue Whitsell, née Wooden, 77, of Kenner, La., widow of David Andrew Whitsell, passed away of natural causes at her home on Thursday the 26th of November, 2015. Born February 20, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jacque graduated from Indiana University, where she met her husband, Dave. Jacque and Dave were married in 1959, and after relocating for the NFL to Detroit and Chicago, they eventually settled in the New Orleans area in 1967 after the NFL Expansion Draft. Jacque was involved in many organizations over the years, including the Ladies Leukemia League, of which she was a founding member in 1969 and served as President in 1972-1973; was a member of Red Hats; volunteered her time to the Jefferson Parish Mentorship Program; and was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church. She also owned Centre Court Tennis Shops. Jacque loved socializing and spending time with her family, playing tennis and snow skiing, going to the beach, traveling, and had a joyful spirit that energized all who knew her. She is survived by her four children; 13 grandchildren; and her mother. She was also beloved by her companion and dog Mindy. She is preceded in death by her late husband, David Whitsell, and her father, Morris Wooden. Memorial services will take place at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana, on Tuesday, December 1st with a visitation from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and services following at 2 p.m. Flowers may be sent to Lake Lawn or donations are greatly appreciated to the Ladies Leukemia League, P.O.
