Robert Henry Anderson came to Oregon with his parents when he was 12. The family settled at a place called Gale, but which was later moved to what is now Merrill.
Robert engaged in ranching and saw milling in the Stukel Mountain district for a time and lager opened a confectionery store and served as Postmaster of Merrill. He erected his own building, "The White House", and carried on a general merchandise business for 24 years. Afther dath of his father he took charge of the estate lands and later bought out the other heirs, finally selling the property. He married Thirza Mae Martin, at Merrill, August 9, 1908. They were the parents of Thirza Anice, born April 22, 1909 (Mrs. Charles I. Snyder) and Helen Deloras, born Oct. 15, 1910 (Mrs. Edgar Goeckner).
Mr. Anderson srved as
Mayor of Merrill for years and also served on the school board worked for other civic interests. They are Republicans and members of the Episcopal Church.
